Donn
C. Walklet
Founder
and Chief Executive Officer, Terra-Vista, Inc.
|
 |
|
Donn has
started and managed five companies focused on the use of
digital earth imagery from aircraft and satellites to
create up-to-date thematic maps for a wide range of
applications including oil and mineral exploration,
forestry and agriculture, and most recently within
Terra-Vista, real estate, wireless telecommunications
and post-disaster resource management. His
business experience has involved working with U.S. and
foreign governments as well as major multinational
corporations, providing products and consulting services
related to the use of earth imagery in their business
operations. As a senior manager at Lockheed Martin
Corp., he led a team that designed and received funding
for a project for the first commercial high-resolution
earth observation satellite, now known as Ikonos and
operated by Space Imaging Inc. Donn holds a B.S.
degree in geology from Stanford University and a MBA
from Harvard Business School. He spent twenty-five
years as an active and reserve Naval Aviator in the U.S.
Navy flying P-3 Orions performing various missions
including ocean surveillance and antisubmarine warfare.
Most recently, Donn was affiliated with the Office of
Naval Research and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems
Command advising in areas of ocean sensing and earth
observation technology. |
William
A. Kruse
Satellite
Imaging and Geographic Systems Design and Integration |
 |
|
Bill is a
hands-on, problem-solving engineer with diversified
technical team management experience and a personal
focus on networked computer hardware/software system
architecture and application integration. Field
applications of communications, networking, data
acquisition, telemetry and computers have placed Bill in
Alaska, England and Mexico as well as on Easter Island,
ships, aircraft and at airfields, in association with
government, commercial, academic, and non-profit
organizations. A BSEE degree from San Jose State
University led to innovative work in microwave component
and test equipment engineering at Systron Donner where
he became an Engineering Manager. Bill relished an
extended time as a design consultant evolving his skills
in analog and digital design with an application
emphasis on microcomputer hardware and software for
clients including NOAA, USC, UCSD Scripps and Systron
Donner. His years at Terra-Mar positioned him as
Director of Engineering where he was instrumental in the
development and utilization of remote sensing software,
networked multi-platform computer systems, aircraft
installations, large data set management, and spatial
database applications. A recent stint as Chief
Engineer at nano-technology startup provided exciting
insights into the future of computing. Bill is a
member of the IEEE, ACM and The Explorers Club. |
Jon
Richards
Software and Hardware Systems Design and Engineering |
 |
|
Jon is an
electrical and computer engineer specializing in
hardware and software networking as well as advanced
imaging solutions. Recently he has developed an Internet
enabled home automation controller for a client in Japan
and also a web server allowing low cost microcontrollers
to be controlled via the Internet. This work allowed him
to develop an intimate understanding of networking and
how to control devices from anywhere in the world.
His current project involves developing 3D visualization
software for satellite photography. He has worked for
eight years as the senior software engineer of Terra-Mar
Resource Information Services, Inc. developing mapping
and orthophotography software. This work involved
creating the hardware and software for a photography
system that allowed very precise orthophotography to be
produced inexpensively. Jon has a BS in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa. |
Ian
Erickson
Senior Internet
Mapping Specialist |
 |
|
Ian has
leveraged his academic experience at the University of
Arizona, which focused on interdisciplinary studies in
physics, math, and computer science, to become a highly
productive developer of mapping applications for the
Internet. Early experience as Translation &
Fulfillment Department Manager at BLR Data in Tucson, AZ
led to a position at Empower Geographics in Des Plaines,
IL as a Senior GIS Application Developer creating
advanced mapping software applications for the
telecommunications marketplace. This experience
led to a position Telocity, in Cupertino, CA as Target
Marketing Specialist working with broadband
communications providers. Most recently, he
founded his own company, AnalyGIS in Gold Canyon, AZ,
developing desktop and web-based mapping applications to
aid in strategic, logistical and marketing decisions.
In his spare time, Ian is a member of Central Arizona's
Superstition Search and Rescue. |
